SP 101 is a great firearm. I have one and really like it. It is a very well built thus very heavy piece of hardware. It has a large grip and is difficult to conceal. I am not a large enough person to conceal carry one. I will say this. I carry one in myconsole as it is one very reliable...
I have a redhawk in 44 mag with the wooden grips. 6 rounds and I bought some Pachmeyer presentation grips for it. the wood is pretty but it is too much hand gun for the skinny grips.
3 rounds rat shot, 3 rounds HP +P you just described my own everglades assortment in my speed six. Great pistol, not as heavy as my GP 100. just a nice easy to carry revolver.
You can shoot 45LC cowboy action loads for practice and bought in bulk they are not too pricey. then for serious stuff you can buy some Buffalo Bore 325 grain jacked up to 1325 fps. by the same token you can shoot 44 target ammo in the 44 mag. cost of shooting wise I think the 45 LC wins.
The Pacmeyer presentations are to me the best of the lot. I have average sized hands as well and those worked out best. Less sharp feel to the recoil as well.
Buffalo Bore ran tests on the LCP says it will handle the 110 grain hardcast (1125 FPS) just fine. I have run 50 rounds of it through my LCP and it functions great. hurts your hand a little but it works.
Bear Paw Jack nailed it. I have a Redhawk 4" in 45 LC and the main reason I bought it was I go fishing once a year in big bear country. the Redhawk is double action and as has been said will handle the stoutest loads going. I load up with buffalo bore 325 grain 1355 fps. the Black hawk might...
If you reload they are great. Actually they are great guns anyway but It sure would be cool if Ruger would chamber one in 327 mag. there are people doing conversions but the ammo is still pricey.
I bought some S&B 38 spl FMJ and yes it did have a rather decisive bark compared to the other Federal stuff I was shooting. I was shooting out of a 6" GP11 and the longer barrel may hav had some influence. All in all I do like S&B Ammo. thousands of rounds and no problems. especially 40 S&W...
Depends on what you want to do with it. I have all of the revolvers mentioned. the Super Redhawk is a monster and if it wern't for the one trip I make a year fishing in bear country I wouldn't own it. If I could only keep one of them it would have to be the GP 100 with 6" barrel. the Black...
You are going to love that GP 100. Probably one of the strongest most durable pistols ever made. If I had to choose just one of my many handguns. that would be the one.
