Buckeye .32-20 Question, plus medallions needed

Hi collectormzornes, Thanks for the note. I'd say you did awesome on that deal! BTW, my gun's serial is 610-036XX. Quite a ways off from yours. Thanks to all for the help. Best wishes, and God Bless, Marc

Buckeye .32-20 Question, plus medallions needed

Thank you folks. I'll give Ruger a jingle today and order some birds. I appreciate the advice on the Buckeye. It is always good to get a reality check from folks who are in-the-know. Best wishes, and Happy Thanksgiving to all. Marc

Buckeye .32-20 Question, plus medallions needed

Hi Gang, I am in need of a pair of OM black bird medallions for a pretty set of sambar stags I bought. The grips have NM birds in them. I tried eBay, but nothing there but NM medallions. Any sources? Current issue black birds are fine. Also, I have a like-new-in box Buckeye in .32-20/.32...

    7 1/2" 44Spl Blackhawk?

Seems like it would be simple to do with a "take off" 7.5" Super .44 Magnum barrel. I would bet Bowen, Harton or Clements has one laying around unused. Good luck with all of that. Happy Easter, Marc

    Stag/elk antler grip care

I treat stag like I treat ivory. I rub a light coat of baby oil into the back of each grip periodically. Maybe once a year. It keeps them hydrated and reduces shrinkage and cracking. No, I didn't originate this idea (it seems to work), and am just sharing with y'all. God Bless, Marc

Maintenance of unfired firearm >10 years

If you are worried, you could take the grips off and flush it thoroughly with Break Free CLP and let it drain overnight. Wipe it down and I'd think you are good to go. God Bless, Marc

Help please? OM Flattop Base Pin Latch assistance needed.

Ale8-1, To your last question, yes, that is what it acted like. Like the latch couldn't go in far enough. Turning down the nut seemed to solve that. Puzzling, eh? God Bless, Marc

Help please? OM Flattop Base Pin Latch assistance needed.

Good point on the type of latch versus the way it came from the factory. I am not sure how I'd know. In any event, it used to work, then stopped. An update, I have been playing with it since I made my last post, and searching the internet. It feels almost like the parts "expand" when...

Help please? OM Flattop Base Pin Latch assistance needed.

Hi Folks, Thanks so much for the replies. Mine has a "drilled through" nut that needs the spanner for the off side. When I initially pulled it, I left one half in the frame so I wouldn't get it backwards. Maybe someone else reversed it earlier? Any advice is appreciated. God Bless, Marc

Will a foam lined gun vault rust a blued revolver?

Easiest answer of them all, and the one I use......wrap the gun in wax paper like many guns come from the factory. It is cheap, and works great. It'll take you half a second to pull it off it if you need to use the gun. A great way to store and protect handguns in a safe or storage area is...

Help please? OM Flattop Base Pin Latch assistance needed.

Hi Guys, I have an OM Ruger .44 Flattop with a Belt Mountain #5 pin. It did fine for a long time, but recently the base pin started jumping when shooting. No, I haven't drilled a pocket in the barrel for the set screw. I am only shooting .44 Special, so no unusual recoil impulse here. I...

    Hammer thong

Ultra simple. Just get a nice, thick grade of leather thong. Punch a hole on the holster near the gun's rear sight maybe 1/4" down from the top edge of the holster. Some folks put this right above the top strap of the gun, so put the hole around the backside of the holster to hide it more...

'73 Single Six Cylinder - Help Please?

Hi Folks, Many thanks for the excellent information. It is identical to the one shown at above at right. So it is a Magnum cylinder, which makes sense. Being fluted and non-rollmarked, does that make it an OM cylinder? Also, since he wants to market it, what would be a fair price? Is...

'73 Single Six Cylinder - Help Please?

Hi Guys, My buddy asked me to help him with a cylinder he inherited. It's a Single Six cylinder, like new, no turn ring, in its red pouch and white outer box (a bit yellowed). Serial number 21-557XX. I think that puts it in 1973. What I don't know is which cylinder it is. It is recessed...
