Well, they say M77 tang safety barrels are hit and miss...

I seldom carried extra ammo in the field hunting, so what was in the rifle had to get it done. Was pretty easy to do with this 270Win that almost every time put pronghorn, mule deer and elk down with one shot, even at the longer ranges I commonly shot in the west. Bullet wise I used 130gr for...

Which two centerfire rifles would you pick

I don't buy firearms anymore, so I'd have to pick from those I still have that I have not got around to selling yet. CF: My wars years Winchester 94 30/30 (that I've had since 1955), or the '74 Ruger 77PL 270Win I bought new. I could get by just fine with the old Thirty Gun if I couldn't have...

Well, they say M77 tang safety barrels are hit and miss...

Like your rifle... nice package. Still have my very first Ruger 77 CF and 77 RF rifles bought brand new... a 1974 77PL 270Win and a 1985 77/22RS 22LR (now a switch barrel 17HM2). I no longer have any of the other old 77 rifle's I've owned (the '85 is the newest 77). They all served me very...

What's the highest ripoff price you've seen for 22 ammo?

You’re a good man blume357. There are a lot of good folks on this forum... when they don’t have their panties pulled up so tight it’s cutting off the blood to their brain. Since I don’t need any I don't look for 22RF ammo. I agree with Craig re the price gouging on 22LR ammo though...

    Strange Desire!

I'll post about mine as it has kind of an interesting history. It was a Christmas gift from the whole family to my Dad in 1955 to hunt mule deer/elk with. I went with my uncles to buy it, it was selected as the best from a big wooden water barrel full of them. I have it recorded that they...

    Rate These Three Revolvers

S&W 686 - So many S&W's owned over the years from 22LR to 44MAG, especially back in the 60's/70's/80's that they are an easy go to DA for me. Colt King Cobra - Again, so many Colt's owned many years ago, although mostly SAA's and Auto's (no Colt lives with me these days though). Ruger GP100 -...

Red Eagle Grips on old Single Six 3 screw?

I can remember when it was popular enough to fill firearm rollmarks, etc with gold paint that new gold paints were actually made and marketed for that purpose. Had quite a few folks come into our gunsmith shop and ask for it in the early 70's. NO we didn't stock it and NO we wouldn't install it!

First Single Action. Convertible or not?

Just personal choice I guess. With all the covertables I've owned the extra cylinder seldom if ever got used. So most were resold with the extra cylinder unfired.

m77 action screw 95 inch lbs.......

This "idiot" has just used hand tight on firearms for well over 5 decades with no problems.

    Single-Nine & Single-Ten: why?

Me too, but then I am old skol when it comes to revolvers, especially single actions. I've often said if you can't get it done with 6 you probably can't get it done with "X" either (ie 9 or 10).

    Marlin microgroove barrel

My very early Marlin 17VS don't need no stinkin' Micro-Groove barrel. With it's heavy 22" 1:9 4-groove it was a very near quarter MOA tackdriver from the get-go (still is). The improvements I added to it up front plays a roll in that though.

    A nice .357 old model

I went down this road over the grips on two of my old models some months back and the crew here helped figured them out for me. One set right for a SS from '69, one set wrong on a 31 pefix BH from '72. Might be worth a looksee. http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=173608

    A nice .357 old model

Very nice. I have it's twin, well, actually it's little sister from 1972. The other "twin" I had from '71 is visiting elsewhere with a buddy. Wish I could make pictures of her like that. What's the secret?

Kit Gun - Bearcat Shopkeeper vs. S&W 63

Never even seen let alone handled or shot a Shopkeeper in person, but it has no appeal to me anyway. I've owned a bunch of S&W Kit Guns from the old 22/32 on and loved them all. Last one was a 63 6-shot I shouldn't have let a gent talk me out of. It was a 4", had red ramp front and custom...
