    45 ar in blackhawk cylinder

I have an 45 ACP cylinder which exhibited high pressure on 3 of chambers. I milled out rim recesses in each of the chambers, touching off on the sides of the chamber to obtain the center of each chamber.

    WTB .25 ACP brass

Been reloading 25 ACP for over 40 years. Made my first sizing lubing die out of a 243 Herters sizing lubing die. Lyman 25 ACP HP mould-very very fast! Luckily have smallish fingers(go with rest of frame)! Up graded to MiHec 4 cavity HP mold(still in wrapper  ) earlier this year...

    Cylinder repair $$ ?

I'd find someone who can do a super job of TIG welding I think. If welding service is found, make sure correct fill rod is used. If the cylinder were mine, I'd build up the hammer impact indentations and re-mill to specs. Ruger book by Kuhnhausen has write up on building up front boss on a...

    9MM to 38 Special Conversion?

I'd say 9mm Federal except I have 38S&W brass and have no other need for any 9mm Federal. Also cast and size my own projectiles so can make the ammunition as required. Some book values of 9mm jacketed ammunition shows it to be 2 thousands under size for a 357 as well but it works for Ruger. I...

    9MM to 38 Special Conversion?

Don't have a 357/9mm convertible yet but intend to get that caliber barrel before long. Have 9mm cylinder which I intend to chamber in the old venerable 38 S&W when and if the frame and barrel become a reality. Have converted a 45 ACP to 45 AR. The ACP cylinder had disgusting head space...

    Cylinder Problems?

I had an ACP cylinder which when used in my 45 BH resulted in really flat primers on 2-3 chambers of each round of firing. Always same chambers, so decided it was shoddy chambering and headspacing. Powder was measured for every round. I reamed the rear of the cylinder to accept the AR case head...

    Ballistol brand cleaner / lube

Wish I had known on March 29,2008 what I know now about Ballistol. I had a fire and about 150 rifles and 30 pistols were covered with a black smoky plastic like covering. WD-40, naptha, acetone and paint stripper wouldn't budge the soot and whatever was in it. A couple of months later I read...

Minimum-Maximum between cartridge base & recoil plate

Thanks for the answers. Accuracy is not a problem that I am trying to solve. I'm not even at the point where I have all the parts working together to my satisfaction yet. In this situation I have a older Vaguero which had a 45 ACP cylinder with it when bought used(2007 time frame). Just now...

Minimum-Maximum between cartridge base & recoil plate

"correlation between SAAMI headspace deminsions and reality" What I mean is the rim thickness per SAAMI can be .079" to .089". Headspace per SAAMI is .090" Min to .104" Max. The minimum rim thickness(.079) with max headspace(.104) results in a .025 value. My question is merely what do those who...

Minimum-Maximum between cartridge base & recoil plate

What would be your proposed optimum tolerances between cartridge head and recoil plate for these rimmed cases? (Have SAAMI data) 32H&R/ ? 38/357? 45AR/Colt? Not considering doing any others right now. I can measure my 45 Colt and determine what it is, but what do you consider the optimum...

where to get wood for makeing pistol grips??

On the 'ironwood'. If I remember correctly from my plane days, it has silicon in it. So don't think you can use soft iron tools and work with it. I think I used carbide saw blades and carbide anything else I could get when working with it. Also don't breathe the dust-but that goes for any of the...
