    A Place for P-Nuts... & Other Goobers

There are all kinds of options these days. Just about any polymer framed gun will be lighter than the P90 and the GP100. If you want to stay with .45 Auto, and a Ruger, the SR45 and the Ruger American Pistol are both available as polymer .45's. The RAP is even available as a compact...

    A Place for P-Nuts... & Other Goobers

Since the .45 Auto P-Series models have gone out of production, a couple of followers have been developed that should work in those tubes and still allow 8 rounds, the CheckMate Patented Follower (CMF), and the McCormick PowerMag + follower. The CMF (it can also be found as the Tripp Research...

    A Place for P-Nuts... & Other Goobers

The P90 (P97, P345) metal followers are basically the same as the Devel followers used in Chip McCormick 1911 mags. They are known to ding the aluminum frame of the P90, but it is just cosmetic, and it will not affect the function of your gun. The P90 has a ramped barrel and the followers...

Boring old lube question for my P95 please.

I do too. You should be able to buy a pack of a dozen, just the straws, at hardware stores. An opportunity for the budding entrepreneur. Sell the straws only.

WHAT HOLSTERS WORK BETTER IN 5" 1911

The first thing you need to get is a proper belt. Almost all the leather holster makers offer a belt, which would match the holster if you bought from them. Two of the better known belt only makers are... The Beltman http://www.thebeltman.net/www/htdocs/index.html A&G Custom Leather...

WHAT HOLSTERS WORK BETTER IN 5" 1911

I'd avoid both the SERPA and Fobus. They are popular because they are inexpensive and available at nearly every gun shop. They are not good holsters. If you want kydex, the two big quality players are Blade-Tech and Comp-Tac. Garrett Industries is an interesting option with leather lined...

    P95 decock question

I'm an "old 1911 guy" too, but I did start my semi-auto shooting with S&W Traditional Double Action (TDA) guns that have the same safety/decocker as the Ruger P-Series guns. Most simply use the safety/decocker as a decocker only, and carry the gun with the hammer down and the safety off. In...

Boring old lube question for my P95 please.

I'd take PB Blaster off the list too. One of their common ads shows the product disintegrating a styrofoam cup in quick order. Certainly a P95 frame is stronger than a styrofoam cup, but any product that advertises its' strength as something that eats stuff, is something I'd stay away from.

    serpa

Even though there are a lot of folks that use "generic fit" with their SERPA holsters, I'd not do that with a holster that locks in the trigger guard. There is some slop in the SERPA since the retention is provided by the lock rather than the shape of the holster, so you can often put a gun not...

    Magazine Bumpers?

The Ruger mags are probably made by Checkmate. Ed Brown also uses CheckMate mags, so if you got Ed Brown bumper pads they should work. Top Gun Supply sells CheckMate mags and pads. Here are the pads. http://www.topgunsupply.com/magazines/1911/check-mate/1911-bumper-pads.html

    P90 or SR1911 ??

I'm a 1911 guy, but if the P90 were being produced, and sold in the $500 - $600 range, I'd pick the P90, mostly because it has sort of "brutish" good looks and the SR1911 is not on the top of my list of must have 1911s. On the other hand, as mentioned above, the P90 is out of production and is...

    P345r

I think they are pretty good pistols, but I avoid them since they are out of production and are no longer supported. I disagree with the "big blocky" comment. The P90 is certainly blocky, but the P345 is one of the sleekest full size .45 Auto pistols ever made. They are very 1911ish in the...

    Slide cleaning tools

For clarity, while we can guess you are talking about BreakFree, CLP is a category of product, Clean-Lube-Protect, not a brand name. There are dozens of CLP's on the market. As far as tools, there is this Channel Cleaning tool from Wilson Combat...
