When I got my Lever Action in 45LC, the Dealer gave me 4 boxes of Blazer ammo to "protect the Homestead with"!. It shoots fine for me!

Wish they were less expensive around here! Same price if not a little higher than some of the Stock ammo. As far as the 38/44, I saw one once and made the mistake of not buying it! Regretted it ever since! Maybe someday I will find one "reasonably" priced but S&W's seem to bring ridiculous...

I don't advocate this BUT! All I know is if you go shooting porcupines, they will take four or five 38's to stop or two or three 357's to stop, BUT if you shoot them once with a 45, they cease to function! Disclaimer: OK, so we were younger and dummer back then!

Without going back up to read his post, I noticed someone went off on a tangent about Rifles. Maybe that is the refence to the bullet not engaging the rifling? All I know is that unless I need more power, I rarely shoot 357Mag ammo. Hunting and Self-Defense is the only time the "Full Power"...

I paid $800 for mine with 1.5 boxes of vintage ammo. Since buying it I found out I should have asked the guy about the possibility of a 45ACP cylinder that it may have had originally. Oh Well!
