    LCR 327

I have wanted an LCR, but am not comfortable with 5 rounds. The .327 seems to be the answer, but, compared to a .38+p, how effective is a NON magnum round? What I am seeking is more round capacity, yet the effectiveness of a .38, and as little recoil as possible based upon my arthritic hands...

Considering purchase of Smith 686, 7 round, .38 snub

I am considering the purchase of a Smith and Wesson 686 plus 2 1/2", 7 round .38. I would prefer a Ruger, but I want the 7 round capacity and a snub. A 3" would work also. Does anyone have any experience with these? I would appreciate any and all comments. The piece would function primarily as...

    Current evaluation of Smith 642

Thanks, everybody, for good information. I had not mentioned the "no lock," but that is the one that I plan to obtain. I prefer the LCR trigger, but I think the 642 has an edge overall.

    Current evaluation of Smith 642

I have been considering a Smith 642, but am hesitant. Frankly, the only thing I really like about it is the fact that it is steel. Other than that, I prefer the LCR. Has anybody current information about the quality of the 642? It is no secret that Smith's quality has been lacking lately. Thanks.

Polishing out light scratches on a 1985 stainless Mk II

Not sure, but I've been told that Flitz will do it. Anybody know?

Store-bought ammo recommendations for new GP100...

I have a GP100, and have found that the best .38 FMJ that I have used is Fiocchi. Federal American and Winchester White Box are also OK, but I prefer Fiocchi.

Meprolight front and rear night sights on GP100

Has anyone installed the front and rear meprolight night sights on a GP100? If so, I would appreciate your opinion of their utility. I am considering them because, first, I am not that far from a cataract procedure on both eyes and have trouble seeing the bull at the range. Second, I assume that...

    Sig Sauer 220RM45BSS

Thanks everybody for your comments. Everything looks quite positive as far as the Sig is concerned. If I can find one that is USA made, I will probably go that route.

    Sig Sauer 220RM45BSS

I recently saw a Sig 45, with night sights, which I was told was Mass Compliant. It seemed like a nice gun, and the reviews that I read were good. I think that it is made completely in the USA in New Hampshire. I much prefer purchasing guns, ammo, etc. made in the USA. I also like the decocker...

Would you buy an 8 shot 357 magnum Super Redhawk?

Interesting point...I just read (didn't see it), that Smith came out with a 7 and 8 shot revolver in 9mm. If this is the case, the details and future comments/tests should be revealing and possibly influence Ruger's thinking.

Would you buy an 8 shot 357 magnum Super Redhawk?

I have always liked the idea of an 8 shot .357 revolver by Ruger. Big questions are weight and size of the piece, and of course, price. I think almost all size barrels from snubby to 7" would sell.

Ruger LCR or Smith and Wesson 642?

I am going to purchase either a Ruger LCR or a Smith 642. The only real difference that I can ascertain is that the trigger pull on the Ruger is considered better. The prices are about the same, qualities are both excellent. I'm not crazy about polymer, but the Ruger has the metal backing, etc...

Squeak sound on GP100 when using double action

I have noticed a slight squeaking sound when I use DA on my GP100. That sound is not present on SA. Mechanically, I am a retard, so I am hesitant to do anything (if needed) to the piece unless somebody more sophisticated can advise me. I thought, perhaps, that the spring or trigger mechanism...

    New Guy question on GP-100

I paid $570 for a brand new, 4" stainless, adjustable rear sight with a Hogue grip. This was about 6 months ago. I was offered a similar gun, except with the wood grips, for $500 (used). I thought that the new gun was a better buy. The $545 price seems a bit high. With what was happening, and...

    Tiny Rust Spot Removal

Try a regular lead pencil. Rub the lead end over the rust, then wipe off. That got me through inspection once on an M1 rifle.
