Install Aluminum Parts on New Vaquero?

On another forum, I just saw that the New Vaquero steel grip frames, in addition to being only 7/16" thick; also have a cut for the indexing pawl and don't have an "extension into the main frame". It's beginning to sound like my desired switch would be a major project. Or am I missing something?

Install Aluminum Parts on New Vaquero?

Thanks for the info. If I go to order an aluminum grip frame, I doubt the Ruger rep can tell me which one would be the proper match for my NV. Same with the ejector rod housing. What should I order?

Install Aluminum Parts on New Vaquero?

My blued New Vaquero is a very nice gun, but it's pretty heavy, about 6 ounces heavier than an equivalent Colt. I don't want to give up all the Ruger features, but would like to make it a bit lighter. Ruger makes/made some of their single actions with aluminum grip frames and aluminum ejector...

    LC9 Ammo Feeding Issue

My recent manufacture LC9 also feeds FMJ perfectly, but gives frequent misfeeds with Winchester 115 gr JHP. That's with several different magazines, both USA and Italy made. Can't find any other 115 JHP to test with right now. Very annoying, I've been carrying a S&W airweight as my OD/BU gun...

    Glock Question...

Too many people keep fixing their Glock until it's broke. If you can watch a good shooter using a stock Glock with the standard trigger setup, it will open your eyes. (Don't watch me, I'm not that good).

    LC380 conversion to LC9MM

In the U.S., the official serial number is on the frame (aluminum insert in LC9 & 380), not on the barrel. No legal problems selling separate barrels, many other companies do it without restriction. In some other countries, the serial number is on the barrel or slide just for reference, in...

    aftermarket sights

As my eyes got older and the sights got fuzzier, I found that for quick shooting the common 3-dot setup worked better for me than plain black. I couldn't align the dots as precisely, but I could get a quick sight picture that was good enough for medium-close work. As I got older still...

    Browning BSS 12 Ga

Congrats on the BSS. If you look in your link to Shotgun World, I commented about my own BSS with Briley chokes. 12 ga/28". The stocks fits me differently, but the weight and balance point are exactly identical to my Remington 11-87 with the Light Contour 26" barrel. So "heavy" is a relative term.

    LC9 vs LC380 Recoil Springs

I would start off with the lightest bullets and loads listed in any of the manuals. Use a fairly fast powder like 231 to avoid unburned powder. If that's still too much recoil, start reducing the charge. If you get short-cycling, it might work to remove only the inner recoil spring for the...

    LC9 flat base

I just bought 4 new mags from two different gun stores. Two of the mags were from Italy, two were made in USA. Every one of them came with the flat base installed and the pinky-grip base in the container.

    LC9 9 rnd magazines

Seems to me someone posted about actually having one, a few months ago. But I haven't seen any in the shops, it's hard to find even the 7 rd version.

Best 9mm ammo for the woods, possible Sasquatch.

FWIW, I've seen several stories of people stopping bears, even grizzlies, with a whole mag of FMJ 9mm. Actually read more successful stories than with .44 mag. I carry my Glock 19 in the boonies with either JHP or NATO ball, depending on what animals are in the area. Keep a mag of the...

    Convert LC9 to .380?

Understand now, thanks. Good luck with your quest.

    Convert LC9 to .380?

I missed the explanation of why one would want to do the conversion. .380 ammo is usually more expensive and harder to find than 9 x 19. One could handload, or perhaps buy custom loads, that were reduced velocity in 9 x 19. If you have cycling problems, cut the recoil springs in small steps...
