On Saturday, I made the time to shoot my 357 Magnum Franken-Ruger.
I had not shot it since Chris had shortened the barrel to 10”.
I picked up a Hogue Big Butt grip, which I have come to like because of its wide base when using a small field bag.
The real goal besides getting it zeroed, was...
I am impressed with the Franken-Ruger concept.
I have now shot three different 357 magnum FR's (8", 10" and my 15").
My 15" barrel will be shortened at some point.
At least, that is my current plan...
Next FR will be in a bore larger than 357 magnum, with a 8" or 8 3/8" barrel...
FWIW I shot Frank's SRH in 44 Mag with a 2x Leupold (benched) and had 5-shots in 2 inches at 100 yards. One of those 6-shots was out of that group but I don't remember how far out.
I need to try to see how steady I can be standing. Not tried this yet.
Oh boy, a new challenge :D
Seated = Approx 1 MOA which will easily be in the kill zone.
The TAC is steadier...Of course it is heavier too.
I can shoot very tight with the standard Bog Gear FWIW.
When it comes to standing, how far do you want to be able to shoot and what is diameter of the target area you need to stay in?
Frank answered my question: "No, old Celtic though. Not brass like the Montangnards would have but gold like the Celts would wear in the upper warrior class."
