    Good smith for action work

A member on these forums is DougGuy. He did some work on my Bisley 45 and it's awesome. Look for him on the Ruger Smithing forum. Reasonable pricing and fast turnaround (one week).

How do I get better at shooting my revolver? - UPDATE

In addition to dry firing, I found a great way to reduce flinch is after firing six rounds, only reload *one* cylinder. Then give it a spin before closing it. Don't look at it while closing. You have no idea where the live round is. Then sight your target and practice a smooth pull. If the...

    Perfecta ammo quality?

If you can find it. I haven't seen it in Twin Cities Walmarts for quite some time.

    Perfecta ammo quality?

I still have a lot of .223 and my AR loves them. Very accurate and consistent. Used to also buy 9mm, but I haven't found either in a while. I too use the brass for .38 and .357 for reloading.

Can I use fishing lead sinkers to slug barrels?

I found loose egg sinkers at my local Cabela's. I forget which weight I used for a .45, but brought a bullet to compare. I did the fingernail test for softness. Worked well. They were a little oversized and a few taps with a dowel and mallet and they pushed through. They are a little...

    Kudos to DougGuy

I was getting a lot of leading with handloads using commercial cast bullets, so I sent the cylinder from my Bisley .45 to DougGuy to be reamed to 0.4525". At the same time, I had him work on the hammer to reduce creep. In my dialog with him, he recommended trying Montana Bullet Works, so I...

Shooting 45 Colt in SRH 454. Shooting Wayyyy Right.

I have a 5.5" Bisley .45 Colt that was shooting left even with the sight cranked right. I had two other shooters try it and it was left for them too. I clamped the gun in a vise and clamped a straightedge along the side of the top strap and measured the gap between it and the front sight. I...

    My GP100 Burris FF3 Mount

The PM_Redhawk mount fits the GP100 MC and the FF3. See my post above with the link.

    My GP100 Burris FF3 Mount

And I shoot stout 357 handloads and my Venom handles it fine. Hasn't lost zero after 200 rounds.

    My GP100 Burris FF3 Mount

I have both of those actually. I used the JP mount in the Newegg link to mount a JP red dot to my GP100. When I got a M&P C.O.R.E. I moved the JP to the M&P (since it co-witnessed) and replaced it with a Vortex Venom for the GP100. Since the JP mount isn't compatible with the Vortex, I...

    Bisley 454

There was one here recently in the classifieds that had $850 as the asking price. Dunno if it sold for that. There is one on GB that has $829 as the buy now price. Could be the same one.

Sent my brand new BH Bisley to Ruger today

Update: got the revolver back from Ruger while on a business trip last week. They received it on a Tuesday, shipped back the following Tuesday by 2-day Fedex. They replaced the loading gate spring, aligned the barrel and checked the cylinder throats and barrel (in spec). They obviously fired...

Sent my brand new BH Bisley to Ruger today

I also think it's minor, and it's probably something I could fix. But being that it's brand new, and I won't be able to use it for a few weeks because of work, it wasn't a big deal to send it in. Hopefully they turn it around in a few weeks. I did have the gunsmith give me his opinion of the...

Sent my brand new BH Bisley to Ruger today

It's the 5.5 stainless Williams model in .45 Colt. It only had 30 or so rounds through it. I had loaded up some average 250gr lead loads (~850fps) and some heavier 300gr XTP loads (~1000 fps), but nothing crazy. Was shooting it with some friends at a LGS/range. After 30 or so rounds, we...
