Ruger P85 MkII slide getting stuck out of battery

I want to be as clear as possible about this. There is no issue with the gun. The issue is with me. I'm just trying to find another P85 owner who can either confirm or deny whether this is normal for this model gun. I know it's not normal with other models.

Ruger P85 MkII slide getting stuck out of battery

You are correct that the issue doesn't affect shooting; however, I am kind of anal about imperfections in my things. I'm really just wondering if it's normal for the P85 to be this tight. If you own a P85, just a "compare my gun to yours and say 'same' or 'different'"-level of an answer. I...

Ruger P85 MkII slide getting stuck out of battery

To further clarify the situation, I made a video of what's happening, which I'll add to the OP https://youtu.be/A95MIk3UIzM

Ruger P85 MkII slide getting stuck out of battery

The recoil spring tension is adequate, I think, but it's not a worn recoil spring because the slide is getting physically stuck in the "in-battery" position too. It's so tight of a fit that it adds another probably 10 pounds of force that I need to overcome to rack the slide, as compared to...

LCP Custom - Front Pocket Holster?

I have an Aholsters front pocket holster. It's kydex with passive but good retention and a hook on either end to grab your pocket as you're drawing the gun. I'm not a big fan of pocket carry, but when I do pocket carry, this is what I use. I got a model for a regular LCP a couple years ago, and...

Ruger P85 MkII slide getting stuck out of battery

Hi folks. I recently picked up a used P85 MkII in "good" condition, and had a question about its functioning. First, this issue does not affect firing the gun. I just put 100 rounds through it, and there were no jams. The issue is, basically, if I hand cycle the slide and ease it forward, the...

Returning revolver to Ruger - how does this work???

What a great attitude. Voice an opinion that differs from the accepted groupthink where certain members are given god-like status and may not be doubted, and you get silenced. 10/10. Would get trolled again!!

Returning revolver to Ruger - how does this work???

Called Ruger back several times. Did not find anyone on the other end of the phone who wanted to send me an RMA. Some didn't even know what it was. Called around and found an LGS who would return the gun to Ruger ($50 was the cheapest in town). Spending that kind of money to fix a gun that has...

Returning revolver to Ruger - how does this work???

I know that. Have you ever compared prices between the distribution center and the other retailers? They're nearly identical.

Returning revolver to Ruger - how does this work???

The pricing should be almost the same between distribution center and UPS Store.... No, really. And $30? Are you talking about Next Day Air, or Ground? What year was this?

Returning revolver to Ruger - how does this work???

Calm down, Ruger Internet Defense Force. I'm not. If you'll read my post again without the "rage glasses" on, you'll see that what I am questioning is why all these other people posting in this thread got emailed an RMA label, but I was not told about this option. Again, I'm not blaming Ruger...

Returning revolver to Ruger - how does this work???

I finally got around to calling up Ruger to have them take a look at my Super Redhawk's binding cylinder (I'm slow-moving, I know). They agreed to fix it for me, created an RMA number, and told me to pack it up and go ship it off via UPS or FedEX, and they also said I would have to use a Next...

Super Redhawk - cylinder gap too tight? causing binding...

I appreciate your input. I am definitely rethinking my initial plan of at-home gunsmithing, and I am going to instead have it looked at by a professional. I'll update the thread when I know more, but it may be a month or more until that happens just because this is a pretty low priority for me...

Super Redhawk - cylinder gap too tight? causing binding...

I don't have the kind of tools I'd need to measure the gap. Before thoroughly cleaning it, there was no gap for some of the chambers, and only a partial gap for other chambers. Yes, there were drag marks on the cylinder face. Now that I've cleaned it, I can get a single piece of cheap copy paper...
