Yeah, I saw it in there a day or so ago....To my earlier point though, the guy is wanting more than I can get a new one just like it for....Plus, that one doesn't seem to include the factory stock, and a factory Mini-30 stock ain't that easy to find......So.... But thanks for trying to help...

Yeah on all that. I don't buy a gun very often either. As it happens though, I am presently in the market for a newer-style Mini-30. To be more specific, a model 5854. That particular model comes from Ruger with scope rings, a weaver-type rail, two 20-Rd mags can be bought from several vendors...

We all know that a used gun is worth exactly what a prospective buyer is willing to pay for it. Plus. as stated earlier in this thread, looking at what auctions bring can give one a fair idea of a gun's value. Much more so than "Blue Book's" or similar "price guides"....That being said though...

Once upon a time, I owned a 4", 5-shot Charter Arms 44-Spl revolver. I don't remember if they called that model a "Bull Dog" or not but I do remember that it wasn't as common as the 3" versions. At any rate, as it turned out, I never really found a real use for it...The gun itself was too weak...

Note that the caliber marking on most all of the Mini-14 receivers which have been manufactured over the past (almost) 50 years read "cal .223". It does not read "Cal .223 Remington.".....In other words, the Ruger Mini-14 is in fact a .223 caliber weapon. In addition to that, you may also note...

I buy quite a bit from SGAmmo.com.....First class 115-Grn and 124-Grn FMJ factory loads are presently priced at just under $13 a box and ship free in case lots. DGW

Their 9MM FMJ offerings are slower and less consistent than S&B or PMC, both of which BTW still load .45ACP cartridges using large primers....And as an added bonus, neither of those two cost a bit more than Blazer Brass. So to me, what the question comes down to is "why bother?". DGW

I had one in my parts collection. It looked like it was less stiff and better made than the Rossi spring so I tried it...That was almost 20 years ago and I've used Blackhawk springs in several Rossi's since. DGW

Never mind that $50 spring kit. All you need to do is replace the factory hammer spring with one from a Ruger Blackhawk. DGW

In my experience,1 in 9" twist mini's like 62-69 grn bullets. As milsurp type ammo goes, PMC X-Tac M855 is about as good as it gets for these guns. Hope this helped. DGW

Not all "FMJ" ammo is created equal, nor is "HP".....Myself, when it comes to the 9MM cartridge, I much prefer 124 GRN to 115, no matter the bullet style. Besides the weight aspect, there's also the power factor, which can vary quite a bit from brand to brand, and loading to loading. Just as one...

The question at hand is "how reliable is an AR in the real world"?....so I guess you could say that that is "the point of this thread". DGW
