Check Ebay often. I bought an excellent used one, like new take off, for less than $60.00 including shipping this past month. Have seen a number of them available. They really make for a very compact and light carbine.
As a side note. My Blackhawk Flat Top .357/9mm from 2015 (?) came with the blue steel grip frame. But it was just too heavy for me (and the caliber). Changed the grip frame to the aluminum standard New Model Blackhawk grip frame (fits me better) along with the aluminum ejector rod housing...
I started with Rugers with an Old Model Blackhawk .357, 6 1/2" back in 1960. Have had many since then. Favorite, and only SA now, is my 2015 Blackhawk Flat Top convertible in .357/9mm, 4 5/8" bbl. BUT I have changed out the steel grip frame for an aluminum frame, plain old solid factory...
Also purchased (won) a Ruger BH Flattop 357/9mm with 4 5/8" barrel. My favorite open carry (hunting/woods walking) revolver. Use mostly 38 spl +p and the very inexpensive 9mm (less than $10.00 for 50 at my Walmart). Great revolver, I think you'll enjoy yours.
My first revolver (that I purchased) was a used Ruger Blackhawk .357 mag with a 6.5 inch barrel while in college in 1962. Great gun and I wish I still had it.
Try Altamont grips ([email protected]). I've bought several SP 101 inserts and J frame grips from them. Very good quality , resonable and they make several varieties (I believe they make the grips for several manufactures.). Hope this helps.
For grip panels of several different woods/styles, checkered, etc for the SP101 contact Altamont Company (google them). I puchased several for my SP101 at very reasonable prices. They made Rugers limited edition panels (also S&W limited edition grips for J frames) for the SP101's. Their work...
Use an small knife sharpening stone (fine) or a ceramic knife sharpening stick or very very fine (600+) paper. I've had your experience on S&W 19's as well as my own SP101 (1993 version). Hope this helps.
Boomer 92266 - As already stated carry the firearm you are familiar with and are willing to keep with you (on you). We have many many black bears here. They usually do not present any problem. They are "sleeping" now but in the early spring care should be taken around mothers and their cubs...
