    Taylor Throating Incident

Pinecone, I concede, you win this wizzing contest. That sketch proves I don't know a taylor throat. Always treated cylinder mouths, forcing cone and freebore as separate issues. You are also correct in that I have never used a "store bought" tayloring reamer. Compared to you I am a...

    Taylor Throating Incident

You are right on Cas. Some folks don't know a taylor throat. Has nothing to do with the forcing cone, and won't cause blow by unless cut too deep. Just because a fella has a bunch of posts don't make him an expert. Just means he spends a lot of time with fingers on a keyboard.= less time...

    Blackhawk 44 Special size

The flattop 44 specials have what is referred to as the "new xr3" frame. Ever so close to the 1955 xr3 frame in dimensions. The big difference is the locking mechanism in the grip frame. The frame is thinner than the xr3red frame. I like that. It fits my hand better.

New Ross Seyfried article on Ruger Bisley

Reading his articles years ago in G&A and Handloader Magazines got me hooked on the bisley style grip, the 5 1/2" barrel and the 45 colt.

    Single Six Barrel length

I was thinking of going with the black plastic off a current new model xr3red locking with the silver eagle. Read on other posts they are an easy fit. I really like the slim feel of the new xr3 on the flat top. I have a wild idea of taking the single six frame to work and milling .060" of...

    Single Six Barrel length

I like the 4 5/8" barrel. Got this single six as a companion to its big brother 44 Special. Planning to get black grips for the single six so they match. Both are perfect packin' pistols for me.

    Ruger 22 Bisley

After reading about that stainless steel 22lr bisley that sold on Gun Broker; got me to thinking and wondering. Acusport commisioned Ruger to build stainless steel 5 1/2" bisleys in 45colt, 44 magnum, 41 magnum and 357 magnum. Williams commissioned the 45colt/45acp. Lipsey's has the 44...

Not Red, not blue. both are too strong. Use purple. Loctite #222 special formula for fasteners under 1/4" Thoroughly degrease both fastener and the hole. This product is an anaerobic sealant, meaning it cures in the absence of air. When you purchase a bottle notice it is half full. If...

    Packin pistol for lower 48

I know this isn't a Ruger, But this has been my mountain revolver long before S&W came up with the name. Model 624 .44S&W Special. Rides in a Bianchi 10L.

    Another 44 vs 45 thread

It is in a Handloader magazine if I remember, Brian Pearce painted a bullet cast in an RCBS 45-270-saa mould with a sharpie marker and then fired it into a media. The recovered bullet had no marker on the shoulder. Thus therorizing Elmer was right. The shoulder does cut wound channel. If...

Help me choose - Holster for new Stainless Vaquero Bisley

This is the Galco SAO purchased off the Ruger site. The hammer does not interfere with the strap. It fits the Larger frame models best. The new smaller blackhawk frame is too loose of a fit for my liking. The Bianchi 1L is a snug fit with the smaller blackhawk frame, and too tight with the...

    Ruger holster

Can't go wrong with a Bianchi 1L. I prefer a Threepersons style holster for a single action. This is a 44 special in a Bianchi 1L.
