JUST picked up the SR1911 today! Best $590 I've spent in a long time

My dealer went to a buying event and spoke with a Ruger rep who said they should see all orders getting filled in March/April.

Update...............still waiting.

I've already got the money set aside for it in my "secret account" I just have to hide it from the wife if it comes in too soon.

By the way harcypervin is one of the guys that was ordering one for 590 with me. I went to pick up the Sig discussed in another thread from a guy doing FFL transfers out of his house. Out of curiosity I asked him what he could do on a Ruger 1911. He called his guy and said he could have 2 there...

Oh yea and my range trip also reminded me how much I hate striker fired guns. I couldn't hit chit with my dad's Glock even at 10 yards. I think I'll be real happy with the Sig too.

At $590 I'll be tickled pink with my Ruger. At $750 I would've picked a Sig Sauer Tac ops or a Springfield Armory Range Officer. Both those guns have "suggested retail" of about $1000. If you know how to shop for a gun you can get them under $750. Why so defensive. I'm not trying to bash the...

If the Ruger wasn't full of MIM parts I would say it probably would lead the pack at 750. I'd buy a SA Range Officer at $750 beforfe I paid that for the Ruger.

Well I just won a Sig 2022 on an online auction this morning. $325 to my FFl! Feel like I stole it. Please pray for me that the Ruger doesn't come in 2 weeks. If it does the wife will probably use the Sig to put a 9mm slug in my arse. LOL.

Why the price was important to me was becasue I'm not a "fanboy" of any brand. I've never owned a Ruger anything before. I would never buy any brand becasue of the name stamped on it. 1911's, much like AR's, are all the same with differnt features and quality. For $600 there are only a few...

I would've bought the STI but the SPARTAN engraving turned me off big time. Why do manufactures do that? If they wanted a billboard on the side of the gun they should've just engraved their logo and then a small spartan to distinguish the model.

My thought on the gun is that at $600 it's a great buy. The thing I like most about it above what a lot of the others in the price range offer is that they kept the slide clean. I looked at a lot of the less expensive models and couln't get over the huge taky engravings a lot of them had on it...
