If you're going to be chasing snakes out that way, be smart and use a shotgun. I can't speak for Nevada specifically, but rattlesnakes in some parts of the West can get to right respectable sizes and shooting them with something like a shot shell will only piss them off.

Got it back this past Monday - Ruger tech said they adjusted the barrel then test fired it for function and for aim and included the test target - I should get such groups with a rifle! - Tried to duplicate their distance, ammo & style and the results sure didn't look like that test target...

Will let you know when it gets back from its creator. Picked it up Monday, fired it Tuesday and Wednesday w/nearly identical results (couldn't sight it in at any distance), sent it back to Ruger Thursday. The slide was so loose (lateral movement of about 1/16") I'm amazed it didn't fly off the...
