I own both. I am hooked not by the cartridges which I believe are just fine for hunting here in Utah, but by the rifles themselves. Compact and handy. Just real gems to carry in the field.
I took a nice 27 inch Mule Deer last fall in the Book Cliff region of Eastern Utah with the 300 using...
I have a new Ruger #1 Varmint in 220 Swift. I am finding that the lever will pop open with just the mildest of pressure from an errant finger. I have already sent the rifle back to Ruger to have the scope ring blocks replaced but was unaware of the lever problem at the time or I would have had...
My alignment bars show that the rings are offset by about 1/16 inch. I have ordered a set of Millett windage adjustable rings to see if that will solve my problem.
Okay, here is a range report and there is a problem somewhere.
Pictured are three separate groups fired at progressively longer distances. Just trying to sight in the scope. As you can see the group size is okay considering I was only leaning over the bed of my truck. The center of the green dot...
I purchased this 220 Swift at Cabelas the other day. I have to use the off set rings and a Leupold scope to get my eye close enough to the scope. Mounted a 6X42 on this one.
I will shoot it for the first time tomorrow.
I have had two of my 45 acp cylinders converted to 460 Rowland.
Now I shoot them much more than when they were 45 acp.
The Rowland is a fun and powerful cartridge to mess around with. Starline has the brass.
Clark Custom Guns will do the conversion for about a hundred bucks plus shipping.
The Cabelas in Lehi, Utah has about 8 of them as well. I took a hard look at the 220 Swift. I did not look closely at the fit of the wood but otherwise I would have no problem with the appearance of the wood.
I sold my 475 Linebaugh and now I have 300 rounds of hand loaded ammo I would like to sell. I figure it is worth about 140.00 + shipping but will consider any offers. All loaded with 350 grain cast bullets w/gas check. All are mild to mid level loads. Most of the brass is either new or once...
