A few years ago my sister took a guided tour from Memphis to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The tour bus was a small one, maybe eight passengers or so. Going up I-40, they passed through Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. As they passed the driver told the group, "On that hill is my family's family cemetery."

Later, at a rest stop, Thelma (my sister) said "That is my family cemetery, too!"

Turned out the driver is a distant cousin to the Wright family. This cemetery dates to 1828. My grandfather, for whom I am named, is buried there.

I recently took a walk through a local cemetery where several of my relatives are buried. Like you Bob, I too am named after one of my ancestors, my great grandfather. It's a little unnerving to see your name on a marker while still alive!

Some years back my sister, she is our family historian, sent me to look for my paternal grandmothers grave. While in the cemetery office they had two people with the same name. Turned out the other person was my grandmother's great aunt. My sister hadn't gotten that far back yet.

My grandmother had no headstone. She passed in 1942 when my father and his brother were both overseas and a cousin had arranged the burial. My dad an uncle never knew where their mom was buried. The cousin didn't spring for a stone. We took care of that so now there are Two Elizabeth Barricks side by side.
