What's the scariest move you have ever watched? Not necessarily the goriest, or the one that makes you jump in shock, but the one that sticks with you long after leaving the theater. For me, its the movie "The Descent", a 2005 film that ironically has an all female cast.

The original 'Them". After seeing it, a couple of us went camping in the desert and every noise we heard kept us awake all night.
Followed by "Psycho"'s shower scene. After the movie, I was dropped off and had to walk down a long dark driveway.

In high school a few of us skipped one afternoon and saw "Dawn of the Dead.' not normally my kind of movie, but what the heck. If you haven't seen it, or forgot, the zombies take over a mall. The zombies end up in the elevator. Some guy calls the elevator the door opens and out they poor.

At that same time I was working remodeling Dr. offices with a guy. To minimize disruption we worked 10pm to 4 am (Shh don't tell child labor) At that time there were five people in the building, two janitors, a security guard and us. The building was mostly dark. Our job was on the 12th floor, but our storage room was on the 5th. I can honestly say for a couple weeks I would hit the call button and back off to the far side of the hall.

Jaws kept me out of the ocean for 2 years....(it was that first scene with the pretty girl being drug through the ocean)

Next was as above The Exorcist.

For the times, (the mid '70's) they both just messed with my head. Call me a wuss... lol

The cemetery/pool scene in Poltergeist wrung me up quite well.
Actually, at first I thought Idiocracy was funny as heck, a riot. But then, once I realized that it was a prophecy, it became QUITE scary...

The Thing (the original)
Same here.
Saw it at the post theater at Fort Brooke in San Juan, Puerto Rico when it first came out in 1951. James Arness played the monster.

That night back in our quarters both my older brothers & I (age six) were still so scared & crying, we kept our parents up for several hours.
Luckily it was a Friday night.
But Mom & Dad said no more scary movies for us.

The Changling. I saw it when I was young. For some reason that movie and the wheelchair coming down the stairs scared me. Probably not that scary of a movie but for years that got me.

I only remember that Boris Karloff was in it. It was probably about 1957. My Mom took me to see it because Dad was at work and it was summer break.

There was a body on a stretcher under a sheet, all covered with blood. Two men with white coats were carrying it up and down the aisles in the theater, and all the kids (and Mom's too) were screaming when they walked by. This was in the theater, not on the screen.

It was so loud we couldn't hear the movie, so Mom said we had to leave.

I wasn't really scared, but Mom was. I don't remember if we got our money back or not.

When we left we walked to the parking lot where Dad had the car, and waited till he got off work.
