I never was much of a letter collector. Even when they were free, I only got them on select, very rare guns, probably under 10% of my collection. If a gun was unusual, I would mostly just call for a catalog number and ship date and note that info in my collection spreadsheet. The reason I didn't...
Both the manufacture and ship dates are only identified as to the month/year, with no day specified for either.
Since it was a first day build, it would add value and provenance to have the manufacture date (at minimum) specified down to the day.
Dougan found that info, so it must exist. And...
Very nice, Ron! It looks to be in higher condition than mine, which I have rated at 95% and without a box.
As for the missing link, here is what you seek!
In my spreadsheet, I see that I still have it noted as 1 of 2 known. That needs to be updated to 1 of 3 now that another one surfaced a few...
Do the markings include anything besides the import marks?
Curious because mine says "W.A. POLICE" on the barrel where the caliber is usually marked. It is a .357 Mag. I chatted with a retired W.A.P. cop who told me the guns were special ordered for their elite force similar to our SWAT teams...
Warehouse cleanout in 2009. They found a few dozen -Six DAs sitting around and a local dealer with strong factory ties bought them directly from Ruger. That dealer knew me as a Ruger collector and called me when he got them. I bought 10 or 12 as I recall. The W.A. Police gun was the most...
I'd be interested to see that and whatever markings it has. I have a Western Australia Police Speed Six that is recognized as likely the only one left in the world since by the time they transitioned to autos, there was a law that made it illegal resell or export old guns, so all the others were...
Sorry hittman, the other one I was thinking about is much closer to the one listed for sale here than to yours which is a few hundred away. Might be close to one of contender's. I hadn't considered selling it but if it helps someone pair up, then I might.
This is the scarce 7.5" barrel version of the old model .44 Mag flattop Blackhawk, catalog number BKH47. The RENE estimate for quantity of BKH47 production is 1500 to 2000. I have owned this one for over 20 years. As I recall, I bought it because it was made in my birth year and has a confirmed...
Once you realize that there are alternate sources for beef jerky, hot sauce, Pakistani knives, and turquoise jewelry, the appeal of gun shows diminishes.
