    SP-101 Upgrades

Anyone else upgrade their SP-101 w/ Wolff gunsprings and/or grips? I am pretty sure this has been covered previously at some point in time. My stock 101 had a very small stock front sight blade and was shooting very high at both close and medium range targets. I called Ruger and Ruger sent me...

    Ruger .44 Carbine questions..

On the older .44 mag carbines the piston stroke length can be adjusted for the power of the particular cartridge you are using. Basically the longer the piston stoke length, the faster it will cycle the action. Rule of thumb is longer stroke for low power .44 mag loads, and shorter stroke for...

***UPDATE*** Ruger says I shouldn't shoot 7.62 NATO in GSR

re: kabooms (usually out of battery ignitions and/or the result of a squib) The kabooms I've read about and saw pictures of was from Indian milsurp X51 ammo which some believe is de-linked machine gun ammo. There have been reported out of battery ignitions (kabooms) from some lots of Israeli...

Ammo testing: Is YOUR Mini-30 a picky eater?

Just a note on the corrosive ammo. It is usually due to the potassium chlorate compound used in the primer. A swab with soapy water, and then a regular cleaning and you're good to go.

***UPDATE*** Ruger says I shouldn't shoot 7.62 NATO in GSR

Actually not quite true. SAAMI specs are in Piezo-measured psi, military, in crusher-measured CUP (Copper Units of Pressure). There is no meaningful nor practical way to correlate the two measurement systems. The difference is in the chamber dimensions. Most commercial M1A's will chamber and...

    LCP

Yeah, gee whiz, the laser may blind the suspect before they shoot them. Why does LAPD dislike the laser so much? No wonder one can hardly find a S & W Bodyguard anywhere. When I was in LE, you could carry the backup of your choice. The only requirement was that one had to qualify with that...

    Mini-14 shtf gun

And I do hope our cohorts on this forum heed your good advice. It appears during the past few years that shtf planning has a must include for collecting large quantities of fire power and ammo. What is that old adage "Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor?" I'm sorry you had to have...

    Mini-14 shtf gun

Whoa Single-sixer, I think we're on the same page here but saying it in different ways. I make No excuse for the authorities in the Waco atrocity and the Ruby Ridge fiasco. In one of my first posts I stated that " ...If a scenario should occur with trained soldiers and backup artillery, good...

    Mini-14 shtf gun

Good info single-sixer. If my memory serves me well, there were no regular US troops at Waco, TX. I remember the main assault force being predominantly the BATF and the FBI. There were some army helicopter gunships, and national guard tanks, but the major assault force was BATF and FBI. Of...

Checked out the Scout rifle up close.

That's a decent price and Burris has good quality optics. I think I want ro stick with a 2 MOA dot though. I have an Aimpoint Comp M3 on my AR and it has a 4 MOA dot. It covers a lot of territory at 100 yds. I wonder, does Burris offer a Fastfire with a smaller dot?

Checked out the Scout rifle up close.

Good concepts rangerbob and skipper49. I have nothing against IER scopes per se other than I dislike the small field of view usually due to the small tube. Additionally as you well stated, if one opts for a full size scope, then why the scout rifle. I use iron sights to 300 yds on my CQB rifle...

    Mini-14 shtf gun

Hi! I hope I'm not around in a "hit the fan" scenario! Jimbo357mag has a good point. If a scenario should occur with trained soldiers and backup artillery, good luck! I would not expect a situation such as this from US troops. My opinion is that US troops would be loath to fire on US...

Checked out the Scout rifle up close.

My distributer does not like to use Davidson's either. He stated similar reasons, the main one being they are always higher in price. As far as the Scout rifle is concerned, it looks cool and it not too heavy. The caliber (.308) is a good choice. The forward scout mount will be found by many...

Steel Cased Ammo... Is Mini 14 more tolerant than AR15

Military primers are just what was posted above. They're a little harder alloy than standard primers for the purpose of preventing slamfires. Most military weapons do not use a firing pin spring like a commercial sporting semi auto. Contrary to popular belief military specific primers can be had...
