What was their old motto? Something about weather never stopping the mail? 'The mail must go through'...except when our silly batteries freeze, or our driver gets too cold...
They'll be built with Ford EcoBoost gas engines or as electrics.
Will it be faster than the ones they have now? Still waiting for a letter I sent 10 days ago to be delivered....
Better stock up on "Forever Stamps". A fleet of new USPS vehicles means stamps will be a dollar before you can say "Jack Sprat".

The union insisted on having a/c in the new ones, with so many carriers collapsing from heat and exhaustion, and that looks like a good place to put it, not intruding into the cargo area.
This delivery vehicle thing... I remember when the Postal Service bought the 30-year life vehicles. They must be getting close to the 30-year mark. Our mailman drives an old beat up vehicle that has 4 different tires, rattles and bangs, at times is very difficult to start and then it sounds so bad while trying to start, you don't want to be near, runs on most of its cylinders, and smokes. Not long ago, they had to come tow it back to the barn. Couple weeks later, it was back to rattling down the road.

I've seen the Postmaster of my little jerkwater town laying under a USPS Grumman LLV changing a starter on the side of the road. He's a good egg.
Rural delivery in my area is done in Jeep Wranglers. They have two, a red one and a blue one. They also have two USPS vans for the areas closer to the PO where the roads stand a better chance of being plowed. Four small towns, one zip code, one post office. Since my roadside box kept getting wiped out by plows, I no longer have one and have been getting my mail at a PO box for about 20 years. But I see the blue Jeep in my area regularly. I met the woman who drives the red one a few years ago after finding her wallet in the PO parking lot and returning it.
