Well,, I'll go against the grain here.

We do enjoy "Blue Bloods" and still watch it. Yet,, we also have heard this may be the final season. Not sure.

As for blah story lines or predictable plots,,, that's been true of a LOT of series shows over the decades.

But we truly enjoy the Blue Bloods family dinner table gathering portion. That's the kind of thing we need more of all over this Country.

I wonder if some have far too high expectations for a fictional program designed to entertain and make money.

I refuse to nit-pick entertainment; whether it be tv shows or one of my hobbies. For me life's too short. If I tire of it or seem to get no enjoyment from it I just move on to the next thing.

I've enjoyed the heck out of the show but don't get invested in every little nuance or personality; knowing it's all fictional anyway.

The British shows are entertaining mostly because the are just different then what we see in the states. My wife started watching Mid Summer murders, Shakespeare & Hathaway and a few others a while back. Some are interesting others not so much. For me, most all tv is just background noise while I do something else.

Like you, I have watched Bluebloods since it began. I also feel the same as you about the show.
I heard that this is the last season for the show.

Some of the TV shows I watch show an obvious left wing bias in that they tout a gay life style as normal. Specifically NCIS Hawaii and FBI Most Wanted having gay principal characters. This is probably a result of having predominantly left wing script writers and directors. I just watch the shows and ignore the propaganda.

Several here have mentioned watching British or other European crime dramas. Many of these are excellent. If you already subscribe to Amazon Prime, which includes Prime Video, for a small additional cost you can get Britbox and have access to many very well done British shows. FWIW, the shows from the UK, Iceland, and Ireland are usually well done, but the ones from Germany, Italy, Israel and France are usually not so well done. Amateurish acting and clunky dialogue. For a good example, watch the several seasons available for the series "Shetland" and I doubt that you will be disappointed.

Don't watch much TV anymore due to work related hearing loss. I can't hear most womens voices on shows and the music is so loud even turning it up doesn't help. The shows I do watch have no music playing and I can al tleast here the dialogue.

And what you say is exactly why shows like this have a long run. People get involved with the characters BECAUSE it's entertaining. And shows end, with exceptions, because the audiences begin to nit pick & lose interest. IMO.

Well, I like "Bluebloods". This is the last season. I have watched every episode at least twice. Same goes for "Law and Order".
I also like old western re-runs including "Gunsmoke" and "Rawhide". "Seinfeld" too.

Hey, I am 75 and am limited in what I can do physically. If I am not on the computer, reading, going to doctor appointments, or minor work around the house, my ass is in the recliner watching tv.

Enjoy your youth and good physical health AND your favorite tv shows.

I have pretty severe hearing loss, and it especially affects me in understanding speech. I often hear the sound but can't make out the actual words. Even with the best hearing aids that the V.A. gives me, I need my wife or others to be facing me when they talk to me, and then I do OK. One of the gadgets that I have as part of the hearing aid package is a device that attaches to the optical audio output of my primary TV. It sends the sound directly to my hearing aids, and that way I almost always can understand the dialogue being spoken. Plus I almost always put the closed captions on for anything but live TV (such as the news, since the captions are far enough behind the speech that it is hard to try to listen and read at the same time). But with this gadget I can really still enjoy TV despite being as deaf as I am.

I watch a Brit series now and then. The popular "Ghosts" is originally a Brit show and I have watched eps from both. "House" was based on "Doc Martin", both grumpy, but straight to the point diagnosticians. Martin Clunes who is a very good actor who played Doc Martin is in a series called "Manhunter", which I also recommend. Hollywood is not the only place where good movies are made. I watched a "Bollywood" movie where a gangster fell in love with a school teacher. Great ROMCOM, alas, I wish I remembered the title. Many East Indian movies are full of singing, dancing and colorful wardrobe/backdrops. One of my fave French movies is called "Dare to Love" funny, romantic and poignant! However the very best foreign film production is Jang Geum also known as Jewel in the Palace. Story of the first female physician in Korea, who served the King and saved many lives from diseases. It has over 50+ episodes and after watching it a second time, I bought a 3 box set of DVD's for my wife and I. Highly rated, receiving over 50% viewing when originally shown, not only in Korea, but in several other Asian countries as well. Work would literally come to a standstill when the original episodes were broadcast.
Glad to see several peeps here who have expanded their horizons and do not have a narrow viewpoint. Oh, one last shoutout to foreign film making. Spaghetti Westerns! I am sure a majority of members here have watched those movies!!!
I should also mention that some foreign films are not in English but they do have closed caption English (which may help with your reading speed, always a +)
