Have several old model flattops, but one of my favorites is my New Model Flattop in .41 mag.

They were produced in 2009 ish in limited quantities. Both 4 5/8" and 6 1/2" barrel lengths. Somewhere on this forum production numbers are provided.
would buy a .41 flattop in a heartbeat.

Those NM Flattops in .41 Mag. are a tough set to put together!
Those five 4 5/8" 87- prefix guns were consecutively numbered, and in private collections.

NM Flattop - S416N - .41 Mag, 6 1/2" - #87-79811 - N.I.B. This gun is in a block of no more than 14 guns shipped with no barrel WRM.
NM Flattop - S416NL - .41 Mag, 6 1/2" - #48-46302 - N.I.B. Correct pre-fix, with factory lock.
NM Flattop - BN-414-L - .41 Mag, 4 5/8" #48-43957

My all time favorite Flattop. Bought it in the spring of 1957. Paid $96.00 and dealer threw in box of Remington .44 Mags. Those were hot loads back then. Still my favorite after thousands of rounds through it. Can't shoot any more because of waiting for my makers call.

That would be the 50th Anniversary .44 Mag BH. If you can find one now. 6 1/2" barrel. And of course it is a large frame flattop. Or the OM like Ralph's above.. I'd rather shoot my .44 Specials out of the medium frame flattop myself.
Got the 44spl flavor flattop and it's great to shoot.

) . Missing from picture is a .357 50th Anniversary flattop . Forgot I had that one when I took a picture back in 2021.... so it goes. One .44 Mag at top Two .44 Specials on left, 3 .45 Colt on right and .357 in front. More than covers any shooting I want to do. Bet you can't tell my favorite barrel length here....

Being a new member, I would like to ask a question about a Blackhawk I acquired recently: It is a 1959 Flattop Blackhawk as new in the box. It has Ruger walnut grips that appear finished with a professional varnish-like finish. Can anyone tell me if Ruger sold 1959 era Blackhawks with such a finish on the walnut grips?

First welcome to the forum.
These were grips that were take-offs from a gun that was real close to yours, I bought the gun from the family and a few days later they called and said they found a box and it had an extra set of grips,,,, asked if I wanted or they would just toss them.
I did make ~110 round trip and retrieved…
.
I didn't even look in the box,,, untill I got around the corner,,,, was I surprised.
They have since moved on to a fellow enthusiast that felt they were worth more than I did.
They look real close to yours,,, I will let you make that call. There is "just about" the right amount of wood grain poking thru, maybe a bit shiny, but they have been used, and that IMO can give them shine.
A picture of the back sides, meaning insides, would be helpful.

… and since I'm here, will add my Original OM and 50 years later NM Flattops, Both 4 digit SN#'s. (not matching)

Thank you for the reply and for sharing pictures of your grips. They look very similar to the grips on my Blackhawk. My BH was advertised as NIB. When it was delivered everything on the gun looked new, but I hadn't seen this style of grips. That made me doubt its authenticity. I bought a BH in the early 1960's. That gun went down the road many years ago and I don't remember the grips on it. Seeing the grips in your picture makes me believe that mine are authentic to the BH I bought.
I love the Old Model BH's. I guess an argument could be made that the NM's are safer if dropped with the hammer over a loaded chamber. My reply to that argument is "Don't drop the gun." By the way those are two beautiful guns in your pictures.

Yes. Even in a convertible. Mine is 4 5/8 barrel.
Ruger did make OM BLACKHAWK 45 & 45/45acp, for only 3 years, (1971-73) 4.6" and 7.5". Less of these made than 44 flattops.
Now here is the catch, only in Blackhawk, NO FLATTOPS, UNTIL the NEW MODEL FLATTOPS (Lipsey's Exclusive)
